Between having regular jobs, school, answering emails, meeting clients and our love for filming it’s hard to find time to blog. Needless to say our blog is pretty upset about being neglected so we decided to make nice and spend more time with her. Promise!

We’d also like to thank the 3 people that have stumbled on our humble website and have actually taken the time to comment on our posts, you nice people will always have a special place in our hearts.

I’ve long realized that videography, photography and anything related to such is not cheap, a fact that was even made more abundantly clear today. I warn you this post is about to get a little geeky so abort mission now if you’re already on the verge of sleep. The goal was to mount a simple ball head onto a metal plate. I figured no sweat, a 50 cent screw should take care of it. I was wrong. Turns out it was a bit more complicated than I had anticipated. I consulted several people, one suggested I purchase another plate for $70 and another suggested I drill a hole in the existing plate, I did not care to explore either of these choices. Anyway, the cheapest way was to purchase a 1/4-20 screw then get a bushing to convert that to a 3/8 for the Manfrotto head. The bushing, which was the size of my pinky nail, was $15! That concludes my story.

It’s hard to believe our first wedding video was a little less that 6 months ago. It feels just like yesterday we were with Criscelle and David as they exchanged vows and we never could’ve imagined where it would eventually lead us. We scrambled around the entire day snapping photos and filming not really knowing what to expect but because of the immensity of their love for each other, the video still gives us goosebumps to this day. We’ve learned so much since then and we have many more lessons ahead of us but one things for sure, we love capturing love. So here’s to you Criscelle and David, we hope you enjoy your gift as much as we enjoyed making it. It brings us the fondest of memories and we wish you guys the very best.

We miss Hawaii already but we’re happy to be home with renewed spirits and tanned bodies. We explored every nook and cranny of the island and ate up everything along the way. Safe to say our bellies are full and our hearts content and we’re looking forward to our slate of events this coming weekend.

What we learned from Hawaii:

1. Every radio station plays Lil Wayne, over and over again.
2. No matter the speed limit, everyone drives 35mph.
3. The street names all sound the same.
4. All food is served in to-go styrofoam boxes.
5. The island is powered by Spam.

Hawaii is quickly approaching and we’re just devastated at the prospect of leaving all this behind for pure paradise but we’re gonna cope somehow. Being that it’s gonna be our first time there, I’m just brimming with excitement at all the sights and sounds coming our way. If you happen to be there, we’ll be the touristy-looking folks with DSLRs in one hand and a cute umbrella drink in the other. Please show us around.

Before this past weekend we were fortunate enough to add the Manfrotto 561BHDV-1 monopod into our arsenal of video gear and boy was it a godsend! The versatility of the monopod was just unmatched and it really allowed us to get in some really tight spaces. It also helps that we’re tiny Asian people so we got some really sweet angles! Our videos for Rebecca and Ben’s as well as Alyssa and Ryan’s weddings really benefited as a result.

I hope this plug for Manfrotto gets us some free goodies.

Tony Romo Wedding Video.

We’ve been getting a lot of requests to do Tony Romo-esque wedding videos and honestly I didn’t even know Tony Romo got married. So a quick Google search yielded plenty of results but the actual video was a little hard to track down. I guess it was being taken down everywhere because of copyright infringement issues. I can find and watch any movie online but I had trouble with Tony Romo’s wedding video. Interesting.

Anyway, after going CSI on it, I was finally able to see this wedding video for the ages. I think it’s a good video but is it a $7000+ video? No, I dare say not. But I will say the wedding video is probably the only lasting thing that you can go back to time and time again long after the wedding day. The video and the unbreakable bond of eternal love of course so spending money on it should be seriously considered.

But on a lighter note, at least Tony Romo is finally relevant again. It’s just too bad it has nothing to do with his football career. Don’t fumble this one!

New toy of the week.

We got our new Navitar 75mm 1.3 C-Mount lens today and we were uber excited to try it out. We retro-fitted the bad boy to the Lumix GF1 with a special adapter. The lens is actually intended for use on 16mm closed-circuit television cameras but they’re gaining popularity amongst micro four-thirds enthusiasts.

Did I manage to impress you with my useless facts? No? Well screw you then Wikipedia, you were supposed to make me look smart.

It’s been a fantastic year so far! The world didn’t end as predicted and we’ve been so fortunate to have been blessed with so many projects and to work with such great people. As if it couldn’t get any better we just booked our tickets to Hawaii for a friends wedding and couldn’t be more delighted to film them on their special day. But I will have to admit, we’ll have to put the camera down once in awhile for some much needed R&R. Mai Tai anyone?
